18 Month Check-Up

23lbs 12oz-----32 in long----about the 10-15th percentile
Wes truly thinks the stethoscope is torture.  Checking ears is also bad, but the worst is trying to get his pulse-ox.  Nearly impossible.  Takes up to 10 mins.  Luckily we didn't have to do that for the check-up!
Nodding his head yes when asked if he wants to go to the pool with his ball.  This is prior to his shots...but he had a quick recovery and didn't even run a fever or get a sore leg!

As John was doing the dishes the other night, this is what Wes got into while Daddy's back was turned!

Hailey's Photo Shoot

I had my 24th week appt today and Hailey was able to have her first real photo shoot!  You can see her cord on the right side of her face and the placenta on the left.  At about  a pound, she's moving right along.  I had a nice 40 min contraction Wednesday night, so back on the magnesium it is.  But no worries, as I was given permission to not only go to Virginia and Harbour Island in February, but Tunisia as well in April!  We'll see if the latter really happens!  I think she looks a lot like Wes already!!!

A Busy Monday Morning at Home

Wes was so proud to figure out how to put on my shoes this morning!  He walked around cracking up and doing a little dance shuffle!

Playing at his table from the Cormans!

When I got out of the shower, Wes had figured out how to take the baskets out of the stand.  I emptied the lower ones a few months ago in anticipation of this development!

Sunday Night at the Pool

Wes has always loved the water, he has even been called a water baby!!  For the past few months we've gone to the pool as a family on Sunday nights, then we go to the local Pir Sulton Doner Kebap place for dinner (makes John very happy).  Tonight when we went, the man looked at me and said...pizza, broccoli...!!  We are regulars. John gets a doner...yuck!

Wes was awesome at the pool tonight!  He is comfortable floating with his wings, even in the big pool.  John and I took him down the water slide, and after being splashed in the face, he asked for more.  Below is the little slide in the baby pool.  Wes likes to take his ball up there and push it down before taking the plunge himself!  Tonight was the first time we didn't help him at the bottom of the slide, and he was able to figure it out!!

Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp

"Work Makes Freedom"
This is the prisoner entrance into the camp.
John and Wes are walking in the neutral zone.  At the time, if they were 10 feet or less from the fence, they would have been shot.

While all very interesting, visiting a concentration camp is a truly somber experience.

a few sights from berlin

Brandenburg Gate
Below is a bombed out church that was never rebuilt after the war.  Above displays shrapnel dents from the attacks.

Wes is looking out onto old East Germany from the Dome in Berlin.  John has him sitting on a ledge and I was told not to worry because he was holding onto him with one hand...yikes.

Berlin Zoo

Bundled up in the freezing weather for a nap.  It was kinda wierd looking at the animals without him for awhile!  Luckily he woke up at the shark tank!!

My mother's maiden name in Steinbock, so it was cool to see the Steinbock exhibit at the zoo!

Wes is getting so big and doing and saying so much more everyday!  We love this stage!!  Last week I took him to the library for storytime and arts/crafts.  He did a fine job of listening for about 30 seconds.  Can only go up from there, right??  Then, with mucho assistance, he made a bear.  His favorite part was the glue, he may have even liked the taste of the glue...he kept going back for more!!  After a snack and juice box, we hit the road, and I was so proud of him!!!  He watched the other children and was very sweet!!  Daddy took the bear to work, where it is proudly being exhibited!!  Gotta love our 18 monther!

Introducing...

Here are a few pics of our little girl, Hailey Lauren Kendall.  She is due May 23, but measurements have her arriving May 15.  I know this isn't something to live by, but it is exactly how Wes measured throughout the pregnancy....and he was a month early.  Brother and sister are already bonding, as they had the hiccups at the same time this afternoon; just in time for naps!

Wes is going to have a sister!!!

That's right!  After thinking I would be able to make it through my pregnancy without finding out the sex of the baby, I have failed!!!  John agreed to find out with me yesterday, "UNDER PROTEST".  We are delighted to have a daughter and Wes will make a wonderful big brother!!  When he gets a chance to scan her picture, we'll show you how pretty she already is!!
